North Carolina State Fair and the Economy

October 24, 2008

I read the article title “At a fair, weather beats economy” from the News & Observer. This article was about the North Carolina State Fair. The article was on how the economy may affect the attendance at the North Carolina State Fair. People being interviewed in the article said the economy will not affect the North Carolina State Fair attendance, but people may not spend as much money this year. The price of food has gone up for the vendors; therefore prices may be raised. Many people are lined up to get reduced price tickets, so hopefully the rain will hold off. As long as the weather stays nice there should be normal attendance. The goal is one million people attending the North Carolina State Fair. The Fair is having an extra half-day to get more visitors this year. At 3 pm on Thursday, the North Carolina State Fair will begin. Usually the fair lasts for ten days, but this year the fair will end in ten and a half days. Personally, I believe the weather will be a bigger factor than the economy. Visitors may be on a tighter or smaller budget, but the definitely wont miss out on the Fair. I agree with Brantley, a person being interviewed, people will probably forget about the economic status while at the North Carolina State Fair. Everyone is crossing his or her fingers, hoping the Fair won’t be rained out.
