Haley’s Howl
November 10, 2008
Did you know that:
- Pennsylvania has a state toy: the slinky!
- Most squids have three hearts.
- John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on the same day-exactly 50 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independance.
- a ripe cranberry bounces.
- the world’s oldest goldfish lived to be 43 years old.
- an avalanche can travel up to 80 miles an hour.
- you can’t breathe or swallow at the same time.
Another Cheesey joke:
voice on the phone: I’m afraid that Karen won’t be at school today.
teacher: May I ask who’s calling?
voice: It’s my mom.
Kudos to all the Advanced Band students who made All-County Band!
Bruegers bagels!
November 3, 2008
The other morning Savanna and Payton went to Bruegers Bagels. We were baffled with the wide variety of bagel and cream cheeses they had. There were many to choose from! Savanna decided on a cinnamon sugar bagel with honey walnut cream cheese. While Payton got a chocolate chip with honey walnut cream cheese. Payton says that it would have been better with regular cream cheese, but still was good. Savanna thought hers was perfect! We both recommend that skip that fattening breakfast from IHOP, and get a amazing bagel from Bruegers!
Basketball!
November 3, 2008
The beat of the ball marks my heart,
Times like this I hope to play smart,
My calves burning, crying out in pain,
Sprinting down court they think I’m insane,
A thirteen year old shooting ’till 10 o’clock, they’re here,
Shot by shot I take as they stare,
They ask why I do it so much, why do I care,
I cannot say anything to them, they just don’t understand,
How it’s special to have many fans,
They don’t understand how hard it was to get here,
How I went through disappointment,
confusion, attitude, and fear,
How I played through injury, serious and not,
How I played in the rain, and when it was hot,
How I studied and learned the entire game,
To be at the top, so they could remember my name,
And so as I stand here, the bright sun burning my face,
I know I belong here, this is my place,
So when those people ask why I do this all day,
I say, because I love it, and I’m here to stay,
Basketball is my passion- everyday
Gas Prices
November 3, 2008
Lately gas prices are very high. People would hardly go out to any places. It’s been least four dollars high. I know how it feels to be bored and nothing to do. I asked my parents to take me some where and they would say forget it. We can’t afford to waste gas. I think now gas prices are lowering down for four dollars. I can at least go to places not that many, but at least enough not to be bored. I glad gas prices are lowering fast I think so are my parents.
A Family that Preys
November 3, 2008
This was a good movie. If you like funny, sad, happy ,and a thrilling movie then you should go see a Family that Preys. This movie is about two family’s where the moms are good friends. The moms are totally different, but they happen to be very close. Each family have their own problems. One family is giving and thoughtful people, while the other family is money hungry. Alice one of the characters tries to raise her daughters to do whats right. One of the daughters get that concept the other daughter seems to care more about herself other than other people’s feelings. I think that this movie is a big lesson about how you should treat people. This movie is life-changing!
Skatepark At Factory (Delicious)
November 3, 2008
Hi my name is Thomas, and I have been skating for a while and have been to a few skate parks around Wakefield. One my favorite is Delicious at the Factory.
Today im going to rate it out of 10 for how good the store is. When I first walked in I saw a little shelf of boards which were very small compared to the Vertical Urge store. The guy at the counter was very nice and so were the employees. The admission fee was $8 for first time. If you got a membership you need to cough up $200 but when you go in, it’s free and a 20% of everything there you can buy. When you go into the park it’s very big and really nice. But some of the ramps are sketchy and need to be replaced. There is an outside with a bowl, a snake, ramps, and one gap. Inside there is a bottom with a 9Ft ramp, a fun box, and a 6ft ramp.
Upstairs is fun but its not really good if you’re a street skater. Go outside for street. When I was tired I walked to the store but was sicken when I passed the bathrooms. They smelled horrible and was hard to pass the horrible smell to the inside store. When I arrived and took a good smell of fresh air. I looked at the boards the store made to sell to skaters. They were magnificent, what artwork they put into them. And the shirts they made were really cool in a lot of different colors.
From the snack bar they had Monster energy, yoo-hoo, Coke, Pepsi, orange soda, g2, Gatorade, plain water, sprite, and red bull. For snacks they had Twix, snickers, Hershey, combos, Oreo packets, and a lot of other weird snacks.
Overall it was a fun skate park. Sanitation was okay but the park was good overall. I give it a 8/10.
Well this Thomas on Patriotic team in 8thgrade. If you have any questions about the park please post a comment and a review or come to me.
Tragedy Strikes Local Theater; Three Arrested
November 3, 2008
On Friday, October 24th, three people were arrested and charged for murder. Many young children, families, teens and adults witnessed the tragic death of manager Mark Buhaug. Forty year old Joesph Bimbo, 19 year old Ryan Becker, and 18 year old Jason Zilinski attempted to rob the Wakefield movie theater. After they had shot Mark Buhaug, Bimbo tried to escape. A witness of the event called the police and said they saw Bimbo hop on a bike but ditch it behind the movie theater. He then got into a Honda Accura with all the lights out.
After the death on Friday night, Bimbo was also charged for a breaking and entering, obtaining property by false pretense on Saturday morning. 23,000$ worth of items were stolen from the house. After all that had happened nothing came out of it for Bimbo, Zilinski or Becker. All of the money was left at the theater and now they all face time in jail. Twenty-five year veteran Mark Buhaug had worked at the Marquee Cinema since August 2005. A memorial will be held at the theater at 9 p.m on Thursday. The service will be open the the public for anyone who would like to come.
Come to a Dance Committee Meeting!
November 1, 2008
School Dances are not very exciting. My goal this year is to make the dances something to remember. To do that, we need your ideas. The dance for this winter is going to be Snowflake themed. Besides that, we still need something to make it really exciting. If you want to help us, come to one of the dance committee meetings.
This year we are going to be making our own decorations. If you can help make them, that’s great. Making snow flakes is easy! All you need is white paper, scissors and some glitter. To learn how to fold them, come to one of the meetings. Please help us by making a list of ideas to make the dance something more memorable.
