Peanuts are one of the number one causes of allergic reactions. It’s a known fact that peanuts are not served on airlines because of allergies. So while you may not know what you’re allergic to, watch what you’re eating. It may just make you drop dead!

The drought in North Carolina has taken its toll on all of its inhabitants. Not only has Falls Lake literally dried up, but we’ve had to cut back major amounts of water usage. On selective radio stations people could call in and report abuse of water which most sources included power-washing driveways, houses, etc; watering the lawn; and washing cars. The state made a law that water was not to be used heavily and if we all cut back on the water usage, some of that greatly needed rain might pay off.

Have you ever noticed the lush, green lawns as you drive past, and then you glance back and notice that for a distance the rest of the yards look dried out and crispy? Well there could be a number of possible reasons but I believe that the most accurate include; the illegal use of sprinklers and watering lawns, or the homeowners could have bought rain barrels. I bet you’re wondering, “why would they need rain barrels?” First, the barrels collect rain water which can be used to water their lawns. Or, as I read in the paper one day, they could have bought the rain barrels with a multiple amount of others to be filled with water to dump in falls lake and add to our desperately needed water supply. Sounds crazy right? Well I began to think about this predicament and it seems that it couldn’t be such a bad idea. Maybe sort of odd, but they were off to a good start and now there are many carriers of rain barrels for various tasks.

Recently, there has been a higher amount of rain. THANK GOODNESS! The lake is finally going to fill out again. That is not until we get more stormy weather and rainy days. Every morning as I Listen to the news, I hear more and more about the lake water moving up to 1 or more inches. At least were starting off at a good pace. At this rate, I anticipate that the drought will not end soon, but if we pitch in to eliminate all the possibilities of it returning harder, we should be able to open more car wash warehouses and other water consuming establishments within a year or so.

Imagine this – You just bought an awesome new 50 inch plasma, high definition TV and you have it installed in your house and everything. Then, you go about changing all of the settings on the TV to look perfect. Then, out of your surprise, your TV goes black. You know why? You accidentally turned the brightness to zero. Now, standing there worried, you wonder, How am I supposed to change anything when I can’t see it? You have now just accomplished one thing – turning your new thousand dollar Television to a useless piece of good looking furniture, that does…nothing…but sit there and look good.

Now, lets go through this again, except with New TVs that make it easier to get a perfect picture. As the trend of just owning a new Flatscreen TV is wearing off, more people are caring how much the picture actually looks.

Most TVs now have a user menu that does very little, and a hidden menu where you can permanently ruin your set. Now, LG is offering you a break on their new 1.7 inch thin TV sets, some of the thinnest in the world. For example, you can adjust the brightness, and the TV won’t let the screen go completely black or accidentally erase the factory settings. (LG 60 series – see it at www.us.lge.com, $3,000, 47 inches)

Sharp’s new LCD TVs connect to the internet so tech support can adjust them remotely for you. By asking a few facts over the phone, such as the brightness of the room, or what you watch(such as movies, sports, news, etc.) they can optimize the picture for you from your own opinion of how it should look. They can even see if your cable or DVD player is connected properly. (Sharp Aquos LC-46se94U – at sharpusa.com, $3,200, 46 inches)

Now, television makers can take the guesswork out of having to adjust image settings, so you don’t have to. They can help you produce sharper richer images, so you don’t have to higher a professional.

The holidays are always a difficult time to find the perfect gift. Be it, trying to see what they want, getting something good, or the expense of the perfect gift. Not to mention wether the gift is appropieate for the person you are giving it to. But have no fear, I’ve got 6 tips for all of your holiday gift blues.

Try these tips and this holiday season will be a piece of cake.

1. To help you narrow down the list of people on your holiday gift list think of the top 10 of your closest family and friends. Focusing on those 10 will allow you to think of better gifts and really see what those special people want.

2. Try asking around for ideas from your friends. They can always provide really awesome gift ideas and may help you find a gift for another friend.

3. For the artsy type, you could make something of your own to give to a friend or family member. Most of the time they will really appreciate the thougt, but be sure to make it good or it could be considered cheap.

4. You could organize a secret santa with a group of your closest friends. Try getting them something that symbolizes your friendship with them like a basketball for your friend on the basketball team. It ’s a fun way to show your friends that you care and you could make it a game to, try to see if they can tell who it is.

5. But when crunch time the easiest and best gift for anyone is the world-famous GIFT CARD! It is the most ideal gift for anyone of any age. Plus most stores have them so check out your friend’s favorite store and get one!

This January, students at Florida State University were punished for their actions. The twenty students were punished for cheating on a music test. These twenty students were also on the football team, which forced the university to suspend them from playing in the bowl game against Kentucky University. This was no ordinary test either, it was a final exam. The students cheated by taking the online test. But the students knew somehow that the teacher didn’t change the answers. Some people think that it’s the teachers fault and that they should have taken more responsibility on the tests they create. The suspension also includes five games.

In most people’s opinion, the students deserve their punishment for their actions. Also, some may think they didn’t get enough punishment. The majority thinks that they deserve what they got and hopefully have realized that cheating is wrong. Also, Florida State University lost in their bowl game to the University of Kentucky. The majority of the team were Freshman and did not have much college football experience, and they let their team down. The real ones who let their team down, however, are the ones who cheated. I feel bad for the Head Coach at FSU. He was embarrassed and disgraced by twenty members of the team. So, a message to all of the students reading this: When you cheat, you will face serious consequences.

Tired of not being able to find anything in your binder?Getting late grades on homework because you can’t find it? Just plain unorganized?Well no longer!! Here are some tips that’ll get you organized!

1.Clean it out!

*Get rid of everything you don’t need.

*If you aren’t sure about the paper/item put it in a labeled folder in your locker.

*Things from a month ago should probably be thrown out, but make sure with your teacher if you really don’t know at all.( Use your common sense but don’t trash everything.)

*NEVER stuff your folder or binder with random papers. You’ll never see it again. Take time to organize it.

*Put things in size order.(Big to small.)

*Put a shelf in your locker to make space for books and folders. Put up awhite board to write down reminders, dates, or appointments.

*Write down all important dates in your agenda.

*Don’t fold or rip your paper, EVER!!!

*Get 1 big binder and separate it into sections, if you can handle it. If not get 1and a half inch binders for each subject.

*You could also share binders like a 2 inch binder for math, science, and Language arts.

*Clean out junk er=very other week to stay organized.
